In humans, this virus usually causes respiratory tract infections, ranging from the common cold to the serious illness Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. Mild symptoms of uncomplicated acute upper respiratory tract infection may be accompanied by a fever above 38°C, fatigue, shortness of breath, cough, anorexia, malaise, sore throat, anosmia, ageusia, nasal congestion, or headache. Qualitative research method with closed interview techniques to 10 informants and types of audio data. The results of the study are that the process of contracting is mostly in the office and family; the symptoms felt are mostly anosmia and ageusia. The early symptoms of infection are mostly fever and anosmia, and the next symptoms usually take about 2 to 14 days to feel advanced symptoms. The mild symptoms are mostly flu, fever, and ageusia, the most severe symptoms are shortness of breath and anosmia. The symptoms begin to feel better in a few days; it usually takes 2-14 days to recover from the symptoms, and the most difficult symptoms are mostly anosmia, shortness of breath, cough, flu, ageusia, and myalgia. It is expected that further researchers will develop this research with quantitative methods and a larger sample of COVID-19 survivors.

Keywords: Coronavirus, COVID-19 Symptoms, Experiences
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/652 Conquering Stress in Times of Pandemic: An Intervention Study to Manage Stress among College Students 2022-02-10T09:18:58+00:00 Princess Red Rodriguez [email protected] Mary Jane Botabara-Yap [email protected]
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many challenges throughout the population spectrum. The sudden shift of classes from face-to-face to that of full online has brought into the spotlight the mental health issue of various groups, including college students. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of a stress management program on perceived stress, knowledge, attitude, and preventive practices among college students in the Adventist University of the Philippines. The study utilized a pre-test/post-test quasi-experimental design among 40 participants through random sampling. The intervention program was conducted from March 6 until April 17, 2021, and consisted of motivational talks, lectures, focused group discussions, testimonials, and support groups. Descriptive (mean and percentage) and inferential (paired t-test) statistics were used to analyze the data. Both groups showed moderate stress, very good knowledge (mean-15.1), poor attitude (mean- 2.4), and good preventive practices pre and post-intervention (mean- 2.8). There was no significant difference in both groups before the program; however, it showed a significant difference in the perceived stress scale, which strongly indicates that the stress level of the participants decreased after the stress management program (mean- 4.3, SD- 5.05, p- .001). Moreover, the participants’ attitude and practice gain scores were higher, while the gain score for perceived stress was lower in the experimental group. Further, preventive practices showed significant differences in the gain score (mean- 4.3, p- ≤.05) as compared to knowledge (mean- 2.12) and attitude (mean- 1.9). Results showed that the stress management program was a success and is recommended to be done regularly for college students.

Keywords: academic stress, stress management program, pandemic, perceived stress scale
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/655 Online Learning Diaries: The Voices of Allied Health Students During Covid-19 Pandemic 2022-02-10T09:19:05+00:00 April M. Obon [email protected] Jolly S. Balila [email protected]
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought an exceptional transformation in the education system worldwide. Literature indicated the impact of COVID-19 on students’ online learning experience, yet there is limited study on the online learning experience of allied health students. Thus, the study explored the online learning experience of allied health students. The study utilized the qualitative research method. Thirteen respondents participated in the study and were selected using snowball and purposive sampling methods. A semi-structured interview was done to obtain relevant information about the study. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the collected data. The result of the study revealed that students have positive and negative experiences in online learning. Positive experiences include flexible learning opportunities and fosters learning opportunities, while negative experiences include technological factors, teacher factors, student factors, and health factors. The study revealed that the participants used the coping mechanisms: student’s self-efficacy: optimism and time management, staying connected with God, supporting the system, and social and recreational activities. The impact of the online learning experience on their career development includes inadequate clinical competence, worries about the future outcome, and traditional vs. online learning preference. Despite the accessibility and popularity of online learning in today’s world, the study found that allied health students had yet to recognize its value in their professional development.

Keywords: skills-based, clinical learning environment, coping strategies
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/658 Expectations vs. Reality: Nursing Students’ Perspectives on Clinical Learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic 2022-02-10T09:19:12+00:00 Rona Beth S. Saban [email protected] Jolly S. Balila [email protected]
The crisis brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic compelled nursing education providers to make an unprecedented difficult decision to withdraw nursing students from their clinical duties, migrating to an online platform. This study attempts to explore an in-depth view of the nursing students’ experiences in their virtual clinical learning environment during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly the expectations, challenges, adaptations, and impact. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used in this study, with seven nursing students enrolled during the academic year 2020-2021. Data were gathered using online questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Responses were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s (2006) Thematic Analysis. Nine major themes with 23 subthemes emerged. Results revealed that the participants expected exciting possibilities and experiential learning opportunities, but what they have experienced are full online instructional modalities leading to learning constraints primarily due to inadequate skill acquisition. They also experienced a lack of motivation and engagement. The learners adapted through behavioral, academic, and social adaptations, while the teachers coped with problem-focused and emotion-focused strategies. The experience unfolded negative impacts such as future career implications and incompetence; and positive impacts of resilience and lifelong learning. By disclosing these concerns, the researcher aims to underscore the potential challenges that the nursing programs will have to address in the future. In the context of this unparalleled global health emergency, nurse educators must be reminded of their vital responsibilities of preparing individuals who will one day find themselves standing at the frontline.

Keywords: nursing education, clinical learning environment, related-learning experience, online learning
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/659 Parents Apprehension Towards Online Learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic 2022-02-10T09:19:19+00:00 Nilamsari Lomi [email protected] Caroline V. Katemba [email protected]
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the school system, posing numerous challenges for teachers and parents. The most significant difficulty is that the educational institution is unable to provide face-to-face learning in the classroom. This makes parents concerned about their children’s learning styles and academic performance throughout the pandemic. This study sought to determine whether or not parents are concerned about their children’s online English learning, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Research Questions included (1) Do parents worry if their children cannot get good grades in their English subject due to online learning? (2). Do parents worried that their children will not be able to learn English well like in regular school? (3). Was it easy to manage your Children’s studying at home? This study is a qualitative research design, and the questionnaires were distributed face-to-face to the parents. There were 30 parents of a 5th-grade student of SD Yapmas Masehi Waingapu who participated in this study. According to the study’s findings, 86,7 percent of parents are anxious that their children will not receive a good grade as a result of online learning, and 93,3 percent are concerned that their children would not be able to learn English as well would in a regular classroom. The parents also have a difficult time managing their children to study every day.

Keywords: parents’ anxiety, homeschooling, zoom, primary education
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/660 We Heal as One: Interprofessional Health Collaboration During the Covid-19 Pandemic 2022-02-10T09:19:25+00:00 Trisha M. But the occurrence of the global COVID-19 pandemic challenged the healthcare system in unprecedented ways. This study explored the essence of interprofessional collaboration among medical and paramedical healthcare professionals. A phenomenological research study through photovoice was employed and analyzed using thematic analysis. Study corpus was gathered from a total of 15 participants, including three medical technologists, three nutritionists and dieticians, three radiologic technologists, three pharmacists, two nurses, and one physician. Four themes surfaced from the responses, namely: unity in diversity, paradigm shift, parallel dilemmas, and resilient optimism.

Keywords: healthcare system, interprofessional collaboration, medical, healthcare
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/661 The Application of the AHP-TOPSIS Method for a Decision Support System in Determining the Areas for Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities at the District Level in West Java 2022-02-10T09:19:34+00:00 Jan Joy Jeferson Hutabarat [email protected] Jay Idoan Sihotang [email protected]
Currently, the world has been hit by an outbreak of a virus called Covid-19, commonly called Coronavirus. Until now, the coronavirus is quite deadly, which causes severe symptoms to death for sufferers. Because the high number of deaths and positive patients requires countries to make policies to stop the spread of Covid19, each country has different policies. One of the policies of the Indonesian government is called the Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) which means limiting activities in a certain area that has the highest cases. To determine a PPKM area is not easy due to several factors. A Decision Support System (DSS) is a computer-based system that produces various alternatives for making decisions. The method used is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Technique for Others Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS); the AHP method is used for automatic weighting for each criterion to be used and reduces subjective weighting. In comparison, TOPSIS performs ranking by optimizing positive ideal solutions and negative ideal solutions. The conclusion of this research is that it can help the government to make decisions in the implementation of the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities.

Keywords: Decision Support System, PPKM, AHP, TOPSIS
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/662 Awareness and Practices on Handwashing and the Use of Mask Among Non-Allied Health Students: A Basis for Health Promotion 2022-02-10T09:19:41+00:00 Allyssa Cheleth Martinez [email protected] Rudolph F. However, there is little to no literature regarding this concept. The aim of the study was to identify the level of awareness and practices in the use of masks and as well as to determine if the relationship exists between the variables. A descriptive-evaluative, descriptive-comparative, and descriptive- correlational research design was used in this study. One hundred non-allied health students were chosen to participate in this study using the purposive sampling technique. The results revealed that awareness of the respondents on handwashing and its use is high. It also shows that there is a high level of practice on handwashing and the use of masks. The respondents’ perception of the use of masks and handwashing practices showed a significant positive relationship between the awareness of the use of masks and practice on handwashing. There was no significant difference found in the level of awareness and practices on handwashing when grouped according to sex, year level, colleges, and family income. However, a significant difference was found in the awareness level when grouped according to age and also in practices on the use of masks when grouped according to sex and the college they belong to.

Keywords: awareness, practices, mask, handwashing, health promotion
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/663 Comparison Resilience of UNAI Dormitorium Male and Female Students During Pandemic Covid 19, March to May 2020 2022-02-10T09:19:47+00:00 Yunus Elon [email protected] Yane Restuwaty Walukour [email protected]
The Covid-19 pandemic is the most serious and potentially transformative event of our lifetime. We are only at the earliest stage of major disruptions to the lives of individuals and families, communities, the national economy, supply chains, critical infrastructure, and agriculture worldwide. Concerns about Covid-19 have brought rapid changes, which can bring stress, anxiety, and fear. Our foundation may feel unstable, our grasp and sense of control may feel tenuous. Losing any relatives and loved ones, dismissal from jobs, a disaster such as an earthquake, fire, along with terrorist attack influence people deeply. Despite being exposed to such severe conditions, people recover themselves even if they cannot completely forget these risky situations. Psychological resilience is perceived as an adaptation process to normal life pace (Tusale & Dyer, 2004). This study aims to measure the resilience of 280 Universitas Advent Indonesia (UNAI) students, which is composed of 185 female students (66%) and 95 male students (34%). A quantitative survey was conducted to compare resilience between Female and Male UNAI Students from March to May 2020, using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Questionnaire with (0.94% Reliability). The result describes that UNAI Female students have a grand mean resilience of 3,6339, and Male students have a lower grand mean resilience of 3,5503. It can be concluded that UNAI female students’ resilience is higher than the male students.

Keywords: Covid-19, pandemic, resilience, male, female
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19 https://nurturagrow.site/index.php/8ISCCO/article/view/664 The Prediction of Recovery Rate of Covid 19 Case in Kabupaten Bandung Barat using Neural Network Algorithm 2022-02-10T09:19:53+00:00 Conrad Michael Kenneth Tarihoran [email protected] Lyna M. N. Hutapea [email protected]
The COVID-19 pandemic that happens worldwide has affected not only human health, social activities, the economy, education but also the death rate caused by this pandemic. Although the death rate from COVID-19 worldwide is quite high, the recovery rate is also quite promising. Therefore, this study is conducted to predict the recovery rate of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, specifically in Kabupaten Bandung Barat, which was analyzed using the Neural Network Algorithm. The method of this study is data mining, using the neural network algorithm that analyzed data, consisting of 2 attributes and 1 class attribute, namely: Daily Case that represent the daily new confirmed case in the observed location, Daily Death that represents the daily new number of confirmed deaths in observed location. The class attributes are using Daily Recovered, which represents the daily new number of confirmed recoveries in the observed location. The findings of this study indicate that the neural network models in this study have a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) 102.168 to predict the recovery rate of COVID-19 cases in the observed location.

Keywords: Recovery Rate, Covid 19, Neural Network Algorithm
2022-02-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2021 8ISC Proceedings: Covid-19
